Does EFT really work?
Yes, EFT does really work. Read the Success Stories on this site, and numerous case studies on Gary Craig's site. The only way you'll know for sure, though, is to try it.
It is not my job to convince you, because only you can convince yourself, when you are open to the possibility of changing. But if you tap, it will work for you.
Tapping is as reliable as flicking a light switch. You can switch a negative feeling off easily, and it works almost every time.
Most people are able to focus on a feeling and experience how EFT works right away. Sadly the people who can't do this, and who don't 'believe' in it, are the people who tend to need it the most. 3.
Does EFT work for _________?
Gary Craig the founder of EFT says, “You can fill in the blank with almost any emotional issue or physical ailment.”
Examples have been....
- Does EFT work on knee pain?
- Does EFT work on snoring?
- Does EFT work on Multiple Sclerosis?
- Does EFT work on Reactive Attachment Disorder?
- Does EFT work on animals?
- Does EFT work on pre-verbal children?
- Does EFT work on Alzheimer's disease?
- Does EFT work on Ritual Abuse?
The answer to all these questions is...Yes!
There is a high likelihood that, properly applied, EFT will either improve or completely eliminate the problem. That does NOT mean, however, that EFT has been perfected to the point where it can “cure” everything.
On the contrary, we still have a lot learn about its uses...AND... Sometimes the results will depend on your “EFT sophistication.”
This One-Procedure-Fits-All feature of EFT brings quizzical looks to the faces of most newcomers because they have been conditioned to think that, for each ailment, there is a specific remedy. Since there are thousands upon thousands of human ailments, providing such specific remedies is an impossible task.
Newcomers become confused when they hear that the same EFT that is used for back pain is also used for grief, trauma, anger, sports performance, and everything else. This notion doesn't fit with their previous conditioning. Nonetheless, that's how it is.
4. How does it work?
The Discovery Statement of EFT is that “The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system.”
Electrical messages are constantly sent through your body to keep it informed of what’s going on. Without this energy flow you would not be able to see, hear, taste, smell or touch.
It has been proven that disruptions or blockages in these electrical pathways can cause limiting thoughts and emotions and lead to ill-health.
Pain is the sign that something is wrong with the energy flow in the body.
EFT uses gentle pressure on meridian points – the body’s electrical, or energy pathways – to change the way energy travels around the body. By tapping and pressing on the meridian points, small shock waves are sent through the energy system which stimulates smooth flow and clears blockages.
- EFT is related to acupuncture, only we target specific emotions and use finger tapping rather than needles.
- EFT is like talk therapy with an additional physical component which allows us to get to the issues faster and resolve them more thoroughly.
- EFT is like hypnotherapy in that we're dealing with the mind, and in addition, working with the body’s subtle energies for a more complete resolution of issues.
- EFT is like counseling with extra physical actions that more quickly give you true emotional freedom.
Since Einstein's discovery that everything is energy, it really isn't surprising that you can address your emotions by manipulating your energy system. What is surprising is that modern medicine has ignored this approach for so long.
Of course, it used to be thought that any talk of our 'energy system' was Eastern mysticism. But we now have the technology to measure the energy flow. You can hold a “ground” in one hand and place an electrode on the meridian points and measure the strength of the flows. We are all familiar with EEG, EKG etc.
A good analogy for EFT is to think of a TV that is not tuned in properly. There is a picture but it is covered in static. We feel that static as depression, anxiety, anger, etc. By tapping on meridian points with our fingers we correct the TV tuning to show a clear picture and hence clear the negative emotion. 5. What makes EFT special?
For those who have spent weeks, months, or even years trying various drugs, counseling, and alternative therapies in a desperate search for relief from various emotional problems, EFT may come as something little short of a miracle.
Because EFT…
- often works where nothing else will
- usually gives rapid, long-lasting and gentle relief
- is very flexible and we can “try it on everything”
- can be easily learned by anyone and can be taught by telephone
- can be self-applied
- often alleviates persistent physical problems
6. How does Energy Therapy differ from traditional therapy?
“Talk” therapy usually addresses the same issues again and again, throughout the years.
When working with energy, you don't have to relive every single detail of a past trauma in order to release it from your system. Your subconscious already knows all the details; we just need to find the emotion(s) held with that memory.
Through certain techniques, those emotions (anger, fear, betrayal, etc.) are released from the body AND the energy field. This doesn't erase the memory of the incident, but releases the emotional potency of it, so it is no longer a barrier in your life.
Energy Medicine gets to the root of the problem on an energetic and emotional level.
7. How does EFT differ from Thought Field Therapy (TFT)?
TFT uses similar principles as EFT but asks the student to learn multiple different tapping routines (called algorithms), each of which is designed to cover a specific issue such as trauma, phobias, depression, etc.
Anything not covered by those individual routines (e.g. insomnia, TMJ, dyslexia, etc.) requires a diagnostic process.
EFT, by contrast, uses only one comprehensive tapping routine to cover all issues and doesn't require diagnosis.
Check out the scientific evolution of EFT from TFT.
8.
How can EFT help with peak performance (sports, music, academics, art, writing, acting, speaking, sales, business, and more)?
I am a walking example of EFT’s effectiveness with speaking. I had a chronic phobia of speaking English to Native English speakers. Now, I am a Toastmaster’s contest winner.
You may have also heard the story about running a 4 minute mile. At one stage in our history, it was thought that it was not humanly possible to run a mile in 4 minutes. Then Roger Bannister broke this 4 minute barrier. Once other athletes knew that is was possible, they too broke the record. Today, high-school students do it. How about you?
The only thing limiting us is our beliefs and conditioning about what we are truly capable of.
Top athletes in any sport have very little difference between their skills. What separates the champions is their “mental game”; what goes on in their head. In sports, this is called Sports Psychology, yet the same principles apply to all performers.
Peak Performers, like everyone else, have self-talk and emotions that serve, enrich, or limit their performance.
When a footballer lines up to kick a goal, he might hear self-talk in his head. Things like, “If I don't kick this goal we'll lose” or “I always have trouble kicking a goal from this side of the field” or “We've lost the last 6 games, we're never going to make it to the finals.”
We pick up these thoughts, notions, and attitudes on our journey through life that, once exposed, qualify as first-class comedies. This is the mental game that EFT can help to change.
There are many potential points for applying EFT to enhance performance. These include:
- Releasing tension/anxiety associated with performance - Having performers visualize the situation beforehand and apply EFT to any anxiety that comes up. EFT can be especially useful to sort through any particularly difficult situations or scenarios.
- Releasing the negative emotions and effects of past failures. These can be systematically identified and addressed with EFT. It is important also to seek out any negative beliefs that may have developed out of these failures and address them.
- Straightening the performer's self-image/identity, and eliminating any negative self-beliefs which could hinder peak performance.
- Identifying positive self-beliefs and beliefs about performance by having the performer say these and applying EFT to any resistance which comes up.
9. Can Energy Therapy help me lose weight?
Yes! EFT helps reduce food cravings, increases our motivation for exercise, improves our self image, helps resolve feelings of inadequacy, emotional over eating etc…
I am, personally, not overweight, and never have been and I do not know how it feels when the scale shows 250 lbs. However, I do know how it is to feel lonely, inadequate, afraid, angry or sad. I know how it feels when someone you love leaves you, when villages are burning, when war is bringing death, when you do good in school and its still not good enough, when your father “forgets” your birthday, when your best friend dies… and I know that it hurts to feel ugly.
All of my clients and friends know that I have had a huge self image problem, feeling hideous and ugly. I wanted plastic surgery, I wanted to die and hide my face away. (At the same time, I had men falling in love with me, but I still felt ugly.)
These feelings manifest differently for all of us; as extra weight, addiction, passive-aggressiveness, professional or personal failures, procrastination, and so on. My unresolved emotions were manifesting as self sabotage and feeling ugly.
Today, I am older than I ever was, but I feel pretty, I feel beautiful, and I love my photos, my eyes, my smile…. Wrinkles? Pimples? Dry hair? I don’t focus on those anymore – just like I don’t focus on my “No spik Angleesh” problem, but enjoy my husky voice and lovely accent.
10. How do I know EFT will work for me?
You have a nervous system, and it works the same way for everybody. It will work upon proper completion of the Basic Recipe or a Short Cut version. Sometimes, we need to correct Psychological Reversal, but as long as you have a pulse and you are alive – EFT will be effective.
11. Where are the tapping points?
As the photo below shows, the tapping points are named after their location on the body - Top of the Head, Eye Brow, Side of the Eye, Under the Eye, Under the Nose, Chin Point, Collarbone, Under the Arm, and Under the Breast.
There is also the "Karate Chop" point (see photo) which is on the outside edge of your hand, midway between the base of your pinkie and the top of your wrist. It's the place you would use to "karate chop" a board placed on two stacks of bricks.
For more clarity about the points, hear this fantastic audio by my business partner and fellow EFT expert Rick Wilkes. http://www.thrivingnow.com/for/Health/eft-tapping-point.
I will walk you through these points during our session, so you don't need to worry about memorizing them. Just be familiar with their location.
FACE POINTS
TOH = top of head (bai hui)
EB = eyebrow (bladder meridian)
SE = side of eye (gallbladder meridian)
UE = under eye (stomach meridian)
UN = under nose (liver, large intestine)
CH= chin (heart, stomach meridians)
CB = collar bone (kidney, stomach meridians)
UA = under arm (spleen meridian)
UB = under breast (liver meridian)
HAND POINTS
TH = thumb (liver meridian, chest, lung, throat issues)
IF = index finger (liver meridian, mouth, teeth, head, forgiveness issues)
MF = middle finger tip (pericardial meridian)
BF = baby finger (heart meridian, mental health issues)
KC =karate chop point (small intestine meridian)
EFT - The basic recipe:
Focus on the feeling about a negative event.
Rate the emotional intensity on a scale of 0-10.
(0=not at all, 10= most intense). Write this number down.
Tap on the Karate chop Point on the side of the hand.
While tapping, repeat three times out loud:
“Even Though I have this feeling of ...(fill in the blank)..., I deeply and completely accept myself.”
This takes care of psychological reversal and sets the Energy system up for healing.
Then tap on the following points, while repeating a reminder phrase that describes the problem:
TH EB SE UE UN CH CB UA TH
Take a deep breath, shake your hands and drink some water.
Reevaluate your emotional intensity now on the 0-10 scale:
Is it less or gone?
Has the feeling shifted, for example from anger to sadness?
Has the scene shifted to another event?
If so, pick the new aspect and start the process again, beginning with the intensity rating.
Continue with any new feeling, until all aspects have been removed.
12. Is the order of tapping points important?
No. The points are usually described from the top of the body down because this is an easy way to remember them. This is one difference between EFT and other Energy Psychology treatments where the order of tapping is important.
13. How long do the results of EFT last?
In most cases, they are permanent. After the tapping, when emotional intensity goes down to zero and we don’t feel any disturbance regarding that specific issue, most likely, that specific problem is cleared. If the issue “returns” it is usually the other aspect of the same problem that needs to be addressed.
14. How much pressure do I apply when tapping?
Tap gently, yet firmly. It should be firm enough that a pulse is sent through your nervous system to clear out the energetic blocks.
15. How many sessions will I need?
That all depends on the person and the situation. My business partner and colleague, Rick Wilkes, outstanding expert on Pain management with EFT recommends daily tapping of 3x5 or 5x3 formula.
Our goal is to team-up and become empowered to experience personal emotional freedom. I ask my clients to commit to a minimum of two sessions to fully experience the power of this work.
While EFT has been known to create “one minute miracles,” most people realize quickly that the issue they want to resolve is connected to other issues. Each of those issues, in turn, typically has multiple aspects. We will accomplish a lot in our first session, and it's not uncommon for additional aspects of the presenting issue to arise thereafter.
The one-session client could be forgiven for mistakenly thinking “Yeah, I tried EFT and it didn't work,” when in fact, it worked very well AND previously hidden aspects of the problem are presenting themselves for healing. The second session gives us a chance to address those aspects. Then you can make an informed decision about whether additional sessions would help you achieve emotional freedom in other areas of your life.
We have noticed that focused, customized programs work better. Scheduling EFT coaching on a regular basis yields amazing results.
Therefore, as a coach, I offer various packages aimed to achieve your goal.
16. How soon will I notice results?
Results are often immediate. Most people report that they feel much “lighter” and “clearer” after the session. That is because they literally are. However, it is not “I won the lottery” kind of a feeling; it is just a calm and balanced feeling of confidence and clarity.
Clients often “forget” that intensity was so strong or sometimes even ask me “What emotion are we working on?” The memory of a specific traumatic episode fades and it seems like that horrible thing has happened not to me, but to “him” or to “her.”
17. What are the basic instructions that I can use by myself?
Quick, yet effective sample of basic EFT is clearly presented in this video. Enjoy!
18. If I can learn to do EFT on myself, why do I need Liv Delicious™?
What makes our work Delicious is that we team up together! When we are dealing with deeper traumatic memories, you were there once already – pain has been experienced already – having a coach, support, and guidance allows us to feel safe, comfortable and secure that when a painful experience shows up, we are not alone.
As an EFT Specialist, I facilitate your treatment, like a good coach. I will help you to work through issues that you can't or don't want to handle yourself. I use questions, rapport, reframing, testing, and many other skills to ensure that your healing journey is as safe, complete and tearless as possible.
First, I will support you to be aware of the emotion and gently soften the intensity around it. Then I will support your examination and transformation of limiting beliefs.
Finally, we will consciously create and install beliefs that support the manifestation of what you DO want.
And throughout the process we will hold heart connection, along with intuition, to increase awareness of unconscious patterns, beliefs, behavior, and self-sabotage, etc.
Working together, we can release those things that have kept you imprisoned and help you enjoy a life of emotional freedom.
Gary Craig, founder of EFT, repeatedly stresses the importance of working with a skilled practitioner who goes beyond what we call “mechanical tapping” to really uncover core issues and hidden beliefs.
One point of clarification: While the same mechanical EFT is used for all ailments, the APPROACHES to the various problems can differ widely. There is an “art of delivery” which is necessary for complicated cases and this involves finding core issues and aspects as well as appropriate reframing and other artistic uses of this flexible tool.
19. Is an Energy Therapy session like a psychic reading?
No! - Liv Delicious™ is about neutralizing the effect of traumas, phobias, and anything holding you back from who you can become.
Once the limiting beliefs are released, you will experience more peace and clarity. Then, as a choice, we are adding Delicious aspects to life and creating our own destiny.

20.
What are the Tapping Group EFT sessions and how do they work?
Group EFT sessions are a great way to meet new friends and get the benefits of EFT as they are a budget alternative to personal sessions. Group EFT work makes use of the EFT concept of “Borrowing Benefits.”
Borrowing Benefits allows someone with little or no experience in EFT to tap along while someone else who is undergoing EFT (e.g. in a session, seminar, group or video) and often experience profound benefits. This is true even though the issues being tapped on appear to be widely different.
Find out about our Tapping Group EFT sessions by checking out the Workshops or subscribe to the Delicious News and we will send you prompt info.
21.
Where is the Liv Delicious EFT Practice located?
Liv Delicious™ Practice is located in Delicious Hawaii, on Oahu, Honolulu, close to the worlds most famous beach - Waikiki. For detailed information, please contact us.
23.
If I'm not in Hawaii, or even USA, can I work with you by phone?
Yes, definitely. Phone consultations are very effective and save you the inconvenience of travel and parking. Once you know the tapping points, your practitioner can guide you through.
Phone sessions cost the same as attending the practice in person. We can use the phone or internet phone services such as Skype.
Book your phone consultation now.
23. Are you a licensed physician?
No, I am not. I offer EFT as a Life Coach, Personal Fitness trainer, and Laughter Yoga Leader. Please consult your own personal physician before applying EFT to yourself.
24. What if I need to tap while in public? It might look weird?
I understand completely. You have few options.
Option 1, you can make a mental note of the cause of the imbalance and tap it away at a later time.
Option 2, you can use your imagination to vividly picture yourself tapping, as it is drawing attention to the meridians. Physically tapping and imagining the tapping is all the same to the subconscious. This is the mind-body connection at work.
I personally, love physical tapping and usually “get away” with tapping on my finger points, karate chop or collarbone. You will see, most of the people are absorbed in their life anyway and don’t even notice what you are doing.
25. Where can I learn more about EFT?
